On February 4, 2003 the Association held a board meeting at my request. I found it important the board meet to discuss our legislative agenda and Association finances.

Board members in attendance found an exceptional opportunity to meet with their Legislators or staff. First and foremost progress is being made on HB 104. While at the Capitol we received notification that the bill was referred to the Local Ways & Means Committee. This represents a new and encouraging development. Within a few hours of notification, our friend, Bob Vetters had met with all committee members or staff. Anyone with a representative on the committee please contact them in support of HB 104. (See attached).

As you may recall, during the 02’ business meeting we discussed financing the Association. To maintain the continued success of the organization I feel we must adjust rates. This marks the first member rate increase in the 12+ years of the Association’s existence. As you well know, every effort is made to hold the line on costs. The decision to increase rates was carefully evaluated and discussed; all Association costs were reviewed. With that, by action of the board, after March 1st annual member dues will increase.  The increase is 20%, depending on member space it works out to $10-$20 per month. Your continued support of our Association is important.

Rates will apply as follows:

Allied membership $    600.00
Less than 100,000 sq ft $    720.00
100,000 to 200,000 sq ft  $    865.00
200,000 to 500,000 sq ft $ 1,010.00
500,000 to 1,000,000 sq ft $ 1,150.00
Greater than 1,000,000 sq ft $ 1,440.00

A number of other pertinent issues are being closely followed. Additional information will follow soon, including the date the next Association meeting. Your attendance is needed. If you have any questions regarding current legislative efforts or the rate increase, please feel free to contact Larry Kelly at (409)-791-3258, cell.
